Positioning for future growth: American Dental Plan is now CompBenefits Company

American Dental Plan first opened its doors in 1978 in Gainesville, Florida. Our legacy was built on values that included a commitment to service and flexibility in meeting customer needs.  Armed with these values, the company prospered and established itself as the dominant market player in prepaid products.

Many of you have been a part of this organization for some time and, in fact, have helped create a company that now serves almost 5 million individuals across the eastern half of the nation. You have seen changes and supported us as we have grown. Our vision has always been to be not just the best prepaid provider, but to provide total dental benefits to any employer. Over the years, we have acquired other organizations and brought them into the company to bring us closer to that goal.

Now, we offer a full line of dental and vision plans. From prepaid to indemnity, PPO, or ASO—we can administer and underwrite a complete portfolio of plans. We have become a one-stop-shop dental and vision carrier for you and your customers. To reflect our new capabilities and comprehensive plan offerings, American Dental Plan has changed its name to CompBenefits Company. American Dental Plan is no longer a recognized legal entity by the Florida DOI, so all of our advertising, communication, and marketing materials will be changing. As a key stakeholder in our distribution system, we wanted you to be one of the first to be aware.

We are available, as always, to assist and advise you in any communication changes that may occur as a result of the name change. Notification will be made to your clients in the near future. We want you and your customers to recognize that you have all of the resources that CompBenefits has to offer standing behind your plan.
